Catherine Bonifant has been a clinical paediatric dietitian for over 15 years, and in addition to private consultant work, is currently the Clinical Leader of Dietetic Services for Medical services at a large tertiary hospital in Queensland. Catherine is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and an active member of the Dietitians Association of Australia.
Catherine is a recognised leader in the clinical dietetic management of inborn errors of metabolism, and the nutritional management of respiratory disorders, including cystic fibrosis, and has presented at national and international scientific meetings on these areas. Additionally, Catherine has authored book chapters, journal articles and conference abstracts on these topics. Catherine also has a special interest in infant nutrition.
Catherine worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane as a clinical paediatric dietitian for more than 13 years, gaining advanced skills in the nutritional management of a diverse range of paediatric clinical conditions. Catherine also managed her own paediatric private practice based at the Mater Specialist Centre, specialising in infant nutrition.
Catherine has also worked as a consultant dietitian with elite athletes at the Queensland Academy of Sport and with high level sporting teams such as the Brisbane Broncos and the Queensland Reds and has also consulted in the community nutrition setting at Nutrition Australia, managing the Queensland Child Care Advisory Service, and with not for profit organisation Save the Children Fund.
Catherine, as part of her commitment to supporting children in her work with ChildD, has developed the paediatric dietetic training course together with Robyn and the team.
